A Rhygate Community Map is available to the right.

COMMON GROUNDS: The Rhygate Homeowners Association maintains the common grounds. Private yards, front and back, are the responsibility of each homeowner and/or tenant, and should be maintained in a neat and attractive manner.

PARKING: Each home has two designated, numbered parking spaces. Vehicle parking is prohibited in any area not marked as an authorized parking space. Guests and/or hired help should not park in numbered spaces without explicit permission of the owner of the space. There are several unmarked parking spaces located throughout the community, which are available for guests on a temporary basis.

Click here for approved changes to Resolution #3 Policies Relating to Vehicle Operation and Parking.

VEHICLES (COMMERICIAL, BOATS, TRAILERS, ETC.): Parking of these vehicles within Rhygate is prohibited by the Covenants and Resolutions.

TRASH AND RECYCLABLE PICK UP:

  • GARBAGE/TRASH: Trash pick up is every Monday and Thursday mornings in front of the townhouses. This includes all holidays EXCEPT Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. If the pick up day falls on one of these holidays, pick up will be on the next regular service day. However, if the contractor cancels a pick up due to inclement weather, there will be no makeup. Refuse, customarily bagged in black plastic bags to discourage crows, may be placed on the Commons at dusk the evening before pick up. No trash cans on the Commons please! Yard debris (e.g., leaves, clippings, limbs, branches, discarded plants, etc.) should be bagged or bundled with string for pick up along with the other refuse in lengths of no more than 4 foot.
  • RECYCLABLES: Glass, newspapers, metal cans, and plastic containers are picked up for recycling every Monday. This includes all holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. Normally there will be no make up days. Newspapers must be in paper bags, or tied with string. The bins provided by the trash service should be used for all other recyclables. All recyclable products may be placed on the Commons at dusk on Sunday evening. Fairfax County recently began enforcing the existing requirement to recycle large cardboard items, which can no longer be accepted as regular trash. Large cardboard boxes must be broken down into squares no larger than  3' X 3' and placed under the recycling bins.  As far as we currently know, small cardboard boxes (e.g., cereal, pizza, etc.) can be still be discarded with other trash items. AAA will send a letter to us identifying specifics concerning this recycling policy. In the meantime, please recycle your large cardboard items.

CHILDREN: For their safety as well as the safety of the residents and the Commons, do not let children climb on trees or otherwise damage the landscaping, nor ride their bicycles, scooters or skateboards on the sidewalks. Since the adjacent country club is private property, they must not trespass on the golf course. Drivers, please obey the 15 mph speed limit in Rhygate and watch out for children.

SAFETY NOTE: While school is in session, watch out for children walking to or standing at the BUS STOP (especially in the dark).

PETS: Fairfax County requires dogs to be leashed. Please be considerate of your neighbors, and if your pet has an accident, please dispose of the evidence.

HOSPITALIZATION/BIRTHS/DEATHS: Please contact the Board Secretary who will take appropriate action on behalf of the community.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS: Rhygate prides itself on being one of the most beautiful communities in the Washington area during the holiday season. Like Williamsburg, we have a tradition of placing a single electric candle with a clear bulb in each front window. This complements the period look created by the design of our homes. In keeping with the desired Williamsburg look, the use of outdoor holiday scenes or colored and blinking lights is discouraged.

SPRINGFIELD GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB: This is a private club offering swimming, tennis, golf and social activities. Nonmember Rhygate residents must not trespass on Club property.
